Magazine Cover Analysis Three
In this travel magazine cover for Conde Nast Traveller, it uses a colour palette of blue, green and white to convey the mood of relaxation to the audience. This is important as the magazine’s target audience is travellers who can afford a luxurious holiday. Furthermore, the main image is of a woman laying on a sunbed, surrounded by water, with a mountain in the background and a blue, cloudy sky. This further emphasises the soothing atmosphere as the woman is sunbathing as opposed to partaking in adventurous holiday activities. The masthead on the cover is interesting as it is tropical green leaves rather than a block colour, attracting our attention, and the dateline of “April 2016” is beneath this. The cover consists of 4 different fonts and 3 different font sizes with text in green, black and white. To communicate the travel theme, the cover lines all directly link to different countries and experiences such as “cabin fever”, “most stylish places to live in Rome” and “what’s cooking in Japan?”, attracting the target audience as they can afford to spend money to visit a range of places. The main cover line is “the world’s best family hotels”, broadening their audience away from solely independent travellers to those with families looking for a suitable environment for children.
